Unleashing the Beast: How We Turned a Wallke H9 into a 10,000-Watt Monster

Learn how we took a stock e-bike and cranked it up to the next level with custom upgrades and modifications.

The Wallke H9: A Strong Start

Straight out of the box, the Wallke H9 is one of the most robust e-bikes you can get. Its aluminum frame is well-designed, with strength in all the right places. The dual-motor, 48V system delivers a solid mix of power and reliability, and the included brakes are more than capable of handling high-speed stops.

While the brakes are sufficient for most riders, a 4-piston or 6-piston solution would offer even better stopping power and reduced braking times, especially for high-performance setups.

Why Eliminate the Folding Mechanism?

The folding frame is great for portability in stock form, but after our upgrades, it became unnecessary. Removing it reinforces the frame, making it more reliable for extreme use. Thankfully, the frame isn’t bearing much extra weight in critical areas. Most of the added weight comes from:

  • The fat street tires, upgraded for better traction and reduced rolling resistance.
  • The back rack, which now houses the dual Sabvoton controllers.

By eliminating the folding mechanism, you strengthen the bike without compromising its ride quality or durability.

The Upgrade Journey

  1. Voltage Boost: We built a handmade 72V, 30Ah battery using 21700 lithium cells, capable of 35 amps discharge per cell.
  2. Controller Tweaks: Using Sabvoton controllers with Bluetooth, we adjusted parameters like flux weakening and speed limiters to achieve a top speed of 48 mph.
  3. Weight Distribution: The battery and controller placement keeps the bike stable and balanced at high speeds.
  4. Tires: Swapped stock fat tires for street tires to reduce rolling resistance and improve performance on asphalt.

Performance Overview

Pros:

  • Factory Strength: The Wallke H9’s build quality is excellent and handles upgrades without structural issues.
  • Speed: Insanely fast 0–30 mph acceleration.
  • Stability: Balanced and secure ride despite added weight.
  • Customization Potential: Endless options for tweaking and upgrading.

Cons:

  • Top Speed Limit: Stuck at 48 mph for now, but upgrading to a Far Driver controller will unlock speeds of 55–60 mph.
  • Weight: Heavier than stock, so not ideal for carrying up stairs.
  • Folding Mechanism: Best removed for high-performance builds.

Final Thoughts

The Wallke H9 is a fantastic e-bike straight out of the box, with a strong frame, reliable brakes, and excellent performance for the price. For riders chasing extreme wattages, removing the folding mechanism and upgrading the controller are the logical next steps.
